Brian Cory, Director of Tennis
Northern California’s finest tennis director is making CVAC’s adult and junior tennis programs rock. Whether you're a beginner or an aspiring 5.0 tennis player, Brian Cory has a blueprint for success. As a competing pro, Brian is ranked #1 in the nation for Men’s 4.0 Doubles, #1 in the Nor Cal Men’s Open Doubles, and is a USPTA 1 certified pro. After years at Meadowbrook, Los Gatos Swim and Racquet Club, and Pasadera Country Club, Brian is creating his dream tennis program at CVAC.
Chris Kretchmer, Head Tennis Professional
Chris has 28 years of experience teaching and managing tennis at seven major hotels, country clubs and resorts from the sands of Saudi Arabia to the South Pacific. He is certified USPTA P1 by both the USTA and PTR, and formally trained with Peter Burwash International (PBI). Chris has successfully produced and coached numerous NCAA Division I athletes, national champions, and players of 36 different nationalities, including royalty, ambassadors, and the kings of industry.
David Watson, Junior Development Specialist
David, certified by the USPTA since 2000, has been at CVAC for almost eight years. David moved to the Monterey Peninsula after graduating from the University of Kansas in 1998. Prior to arriving at CVAC, David worked at the Mission Ranch Tennis Club. David’s passion for tennis really shines through when on the court with kids of all ages. He enjoys working with the Ladies Interclub and USTA teams as well, but specializes in developing tournament/school team junior tennis players.
Alice Cory, Associate Professional
Alice comes to the CVAC tennis staff with years of coaching experience with adult and junior tennis, privates and clinics. She started her teaching career at John Gardiner's Tennis Ranch in 1990 and has been the Tennis Director at Meadowbrook Swim and Racket Club and Pasadera Country Club. Alice joined the CVAC staff in 2008. Alice excels in the motivational aspect of tennis.
Chase Clifton, Associate Professional
Chase is a USPTA certified tennis professional who has been on the CVAC staff since 2002. He played #1 at Monterey High School and competed in the CCS High School Championships every year while at Monterey High School. Chase specializes in juniors and also loves to work with adults in privates and clinics. He also captains CVAC USTA League teams.
Corleen Kretchmer, Tennis Concierge
After playing varsity tennis for CSU, Chico, Corleen traveled the tennis world as teacher, manager, and pro shop owner, working at some of the world’s finest resort hotels and clubs – from Hawaii to Saudi Arabia. Her travels have included the San Diego Intercontinental Hotel, the Miami Lakes Inn and Country Club, The Royal Lahaina on Maui, and Rolling Hills Club in Marin. She has been at the Carmel Valley Athletic Club for the past ten years.
